JEEP
Jeep is known to be the oldest off-road vehicle brand. With Land Rover as the other hard terrain vehicle, Jeep has been owned by Chrysler for some time now. The first Jeep vehicle ever to be created, the Bantam BRC, became the primary light 4-wheel-drive transportation utility for the US Army and its allies during World War II. Then, during the 20th century, Jeeps were used by the U.S. Postal Service for mail services around the Country.
There isn’t just one main explanations to the origins of the word Jeep, and the reason on why
Also known as just a four-wheel drive vehicle, Jeep was known from their army related origins. With a one-half- to one-and-one-half-ton capacity unit, their first prototype was known as the Bantam BRC in the Unites states Army in Pennsylvania. R. Lee Ermey was the man behind the military based creation for the Jeep brand. Competing prototyepes were brought in by Ford, and Willys-Overland. The American Bantam Car Company actually built and designed the vehicle that first met the Army's criteria, but the engine wasn’t good enough; as per the American Army. The other factor on why their brand new creation wasn’t used was because the company wasn’t big enought to produce and supply the numbers needed. So, the army allowedWillys and Ford to make second attempts. Even though Jeep was no longer in the run, they made more models. During the process, Willys-Overland's chief engineer Delmar "Barney" Roos made a few changes in the excisting Jeep design (Bantam BRC) which changed the overall weight of the automobile to the Armies weight specification of 2,175 lb (987 kg). He was still able to maintain a powerful but comparatively heavy engine, thus leading both companies to their initial contract. They became the military standard vehicle.

The jeep was widely copied around the world, including in France, and Japan. There were several versions created, including a railway jeep and an amphibious jeep. As part of the war effort, Jeeps were also supplied to the Soviet Red Army during World War II. During the Jeep's service in Korea the name was referred to as "Just Enough Essential Parts" by the troops due to the very basic design.
the company was named after it. However, the most popular story, is that of the general audience. Since all the vehicles were purposelly made for “Government Purpose” (G.P.) people in the military started abreviating both words to just the begining letter of each. Phonetically they were slurring the word jeep.
