Land Rover is a auto company that is known to manufacture all terrain, 4X4, and SUV vehicles. Land Rover was a English based company which is now being operated by Jaguar Land Rover Group. Such company is owned by an Indian based company called Tata Motors.
As a new company, Land Rover specified in strong all-terrain vehicles. Therefor came the brands name Land Rover. This new pioneer automobile company, launched their first vehicle in April 1948. Their first model was a vehcile capable of four-wheel drive, later used as a model for several of their newer vehicles.
Land Rover started as a model in the formelly known as the Rover Company. However, Land Rover was developed as a seperated brand. This led to a lot of success for the company, and world wide recognition. At the time, Land Rover was owned by three companies: British Leyland, British Aerospace and BMW. In 2000, the company was sold to Ford Motor Company which became part of a allicance called the Premier Automotive Group. In June 2008, Ford sold Jaguar and Land Rover groups to Tata motors.

In 1948, Maurice Wilks from the United Kigdom, designed the first Land Rover in the island of Anglesey, Wales, United Kingdom. At the time, Wilks was chief designer of the British car company Rover. He said he got the inspiration from a World War II Jeep he once used. The material that they used to built the chasis was from a former Jeep vehicle. The material that was used to built the Jeep chasis was actually an alloy of aluminium and magnesium called Birmabright. Certain alloy was very durable and strong in the toughest of conditions such as bad weather. Birmabright was als overy light comparing other types of materials used for vehicles chasis at the time.
Land Rover such as the Series I were tested in a very original matter. They used a special kind of alcohol concentrate known as banana oil. The vehicles had to pass the test.
